5K a year 5 days ago 5 days ago 5 days ago GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Provides general information concerning all aspects of permitting, planning and development to developers, builders and the general public.
Issues permits of all types and schedules inspections.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Functions as the initial contact for property owners and contractors in discussing requests concerning land use activities; handles large volume of incoming phone calls.
Ensures compliance with the Land Development Code, Comprehensive Plan and ordinances.
Provides information concerning permitting, inspections, planning and development to developers, builders and the public; issues development and construction permits.
Exercises decision making skills in reference to ordinances and policies concerning approval of development permits.
Schedules inspections and maintains inspection records.
Receives various plans and applications, reviews for completeness and accuracy, and distributes as required.
Cross references and verifies for accuracy in all documentation (i.
e.
, addresses, certified foundation surveys, setbacks, easements, alley ways, right of ways, plats, maps, plat books and plot plans).
Performs keyboard tasks in preparing various items (i.
e.
, Certificate of Occupancy, entering data on permits and other related reports).
Prepares, updates and/or maintains various databases and/or related departmental records and files.
Creates, maintains, updates and manages department files; reviews documents and files for accuracy and makes adjustments as required.
Works collaboratively with other county departments toward the goal of project approval, performing tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Assists other departmental employees by relaying and requesting information as directed by supervisor.
Cross-trains where applicable to ensure efficient coverage in the event of personnel shortage or peak work periods.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Education, Training and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year of office experience that includes direct customer contact and problem solving, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
Requires a minimum typing speed of 25 words per minute.
Experience with Microsoft Word is preferred.
Experience with automated permitting software is preferred.
Knowledge of the construction industry and/or terminology is preferred.
Supplemental course work in planning and/or land development issues strongly preferred.
Incumbent must be bondable.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Requires commission as a Florida Notary Public within six (6) months of employment.
Requires a valid driver license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, office equipment, telephone, facsimile and copier.
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects.
Physical demands are essentially those of sedentary work.
Language Ability:
Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions.
Requires ability to read moderately complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc.
Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of spelling, grammar, punctuation, diction and style.
Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.
Intelligence:
Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions in written and oral form; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
Numerical Aptitude:
Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, use decimals and calculate percentages; interpret graphs; compute ratio and proportion.
Interpersonal Temperament:
Requires the ability to tactfully and effectively interact with the public and with co-workers.
Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with frequent deadlines or peak workloads.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
