Shalimar, FL Shalimar, FL Full-time Full-time $34,715 a year $34,715 a year 18 hours ago 18 hours ago 18 hours ago Description The primary responsibility of the clerk is to perform clerical work related to the judicial process involving routine classifying, indexing, filing, storing and retrieving various types of official or legal records.
On a daily basis, this position receives and answers requests for information from OCSO employees and the public, in person, and over the phone, often requiring extended research.
Duties Serve members of the public in person and by telephone.
This includes answering calls that come in and helping people that walk into the Sheriff's Office.
This may mean helping them with their request or directing them to the person or agency that can help them.
Review documents received for service to determine if they contain the elements necessary to meet state requirements for service.
Assist Deputies and OCSO employees with questions about traffic tickets, arrest reports, warrants, civil documents, writs and subpoenas in preparation for documents submitted to the Clerk of Courts Office.
Maintain/update files/reports/documentation.
Maintain operational records and make reports.
Participate in training to gain knowledge, skills, and technical expertise to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Requires regular and predictable attendance.
Performs related duties as necessary.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED.
Ability to pass a thorough criminal background screening.
Must obtain NCIC/FCIC certification within six (6) months of hire.
Work in a safety-conscious environment and to follow and promote good safety practice while maintaining and controlling complex filing systems.
Follow and perform duties based on Florida constitutions, Federal, State and County civil laws and ordinances, related to court decisions, department policies, General Orders and Operations Orders.
Use of standard office equipment and perform in modern office setting.
Ability to continuously view law enforcement encounters with varying degrees of depravity.
Function independently, exercise good judgment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, in person and by telephone.
Properly interpret, understand and make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and policies.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with victims, witnesses, law enforcement officers, judges, attorneys, representatives of outside agencies, co-workers, other county employees and officials, and the general public.
Skill in preparing forms and reports using prescribed formats and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
